IEA engages in projects and activities that meet its objectives. The Association organizes and participates in educational, cultural, philanthropic and humanitarian activities. IEA supports humanitarian relief efforts in the Niger Delta region of Nigeria. In 2009, the Association donated food and clothes to people in Gbaramatu who were rendered homeless after their homes were destroyed. IEA provides support to the homeless and needy. In September 2010, IEA members prepared and served breakfast to homeless individuals who visited The Lamb Center in Fairfax, Virginia. The Lamb Center is owned and operated by a non-profit, faith-based organization which has been providing services to homeless individuals. At the Center, homeless individuals receive supportive services such as food, clothing, employment, and medical and psychiatric treatment services.
In addition, IEA is planning to organize or participate in educational, cultural, philanthropic and humanitarian philanthropic activities: clothes-drive for the needy in the Washington, DC area, annual Izon Cultural Day, annual education workshop for new Izon college students in the Washington, DC, Maryland and Virginia area and awarding scholarships to needy and deserving students in the United States and Nigeria.
- Scholarships to college students
- Chairs and desks for High School students in Abere, Nigeria.
- Supplied Chairs to the secondary school at Opokuma, Bayelsa State, Nigeria.
- Books and stationery supplies to the secondary school at Angiama, Bayelsa State, Nigeria.
This year we hope to increase our outreach program to more communities that were affected and continue to suffer untold hardship as a result of the last devastating flood water.
